This month via Combat, Dublin-based DJ/producer Anodyne (a.k.a. Colin Cloughley) is set to release his second EP of remixes for tracks from his recent Four Empires EP, which boasts versions from the likes of Plaid, 214, and, featured here, fellow Irish tunesmith Defekt (pictured above). “Empire of Time (Defekt Remix)” is a dark and urgent techno number composed of 808 breakbeats, stabby basslines, and mystical synth pads. The production shies away from the more dissonant sounds heard in Anodyne’s original, while still maintaining its moody and cinematic vibes.
