There’s a bit of perky ’90s nostalgia peaking out beneath the surface of Hopeless Romantic, ex-LOL Boys member Heartbeat(s)‘ latest EP, out now on ASL Singles Club. “Gina” is the teaser cut, and it’s a bassline-led jump into the hectic patter of old-school, late-night deep house. The production comes complete with jittery hi-hats, warped diva calls, and lush pads that recall the mid-’90s heyday of labels like Prescription and Guidance.
