The Wedidit collective is home to a number of talented beatmakers, including Groundislava, eLan, Jonwayne (who helmed our latest podcast), and frequent XLR8R subject Shlohmo. Today, the crew is dropping its first official release, a solo effort by New York City native RL Grime. The Grapes EP is his debut release, and opening cut “Grapes Alla Vodka” is a big, brash, and addictive slice of Houston-flavored crunk anchored by a gargantuan synthesizer that drips a spooky, syrup-laden melody over the jam’s flickering claps and cymbals. To celebrate the release, Wedidit has created 100 iron-on patches featuring RL Grime’s tombstone logo that are available when you purchase the digital package, which also features remixes from Shlohmo, Salva, LOL Boys, and Groundislava.
