For its annual springtime gift to the world, the Brooklyn-based Astro Nautico label released the free Atlantics Vol. 3 compilation, featuring budding artists like Druid Cloak, Archie Pelago, and the artist responsible for the song at hand, Julien Mier. “If You Are” finds the Dutch producer toying with contrasting textures and playing with unexpected sound sources. Metallic, auto-tuned vocals cloud around fuzzy synths while blossoming arpeggios, rusty melodies, and shimmering FX fill the space between the song’s rocky and syncopated beat.
