Despite what the label and artist names involved in this remix may imply, “Mona” by El Niño Andres is a decidedly European affair. The title track from the Crotatian producer’s forthcoming EP for his own Hija De Colombia label was passed through the hands of Ukranian up-and-comer Sleep Tight, and arrives as the record’s closing cut. On his rework, Sleep Tight elects to wrap the floating piano notes and airy essence of Andres’ original production around a half-time framework, letting the clatter of restless rim shots and roomy percussion fill the space left between the pumping breaths of manipulated vocal pads and steady push of rounded kicks. The Mona EP will see an official release on May 1, but before then, it can be previewed after the jump.
