Music blog Palms Out Sounds has had a pretty successful run as a record label, and with the release of Kansas-based house producer Norrit‘s Only Me And U EP (artwork above), the imprint has reached the impressive milestone of 30 releases. Continuing with the experimental yet club-friendly sound he’s developed since we last covered him, Norrit’s new tracks stand on the crossroads of the many forms of new-school underground house music. This is in full evidence on title track “Only Me and U,” which combines epic atmospherics, LFO-ed pads, and garage vocal samples with a rhythm that jumps between four-on-the-floor and broken beat—a distinctly American take on the UK post-dubstep sound. The Only Me and U EP is out August 9, but the five-track release, which includes a remix from Hot City side-project Unknown to the Unknown, is already streamable in its entirety on Palms Out Sounds’ Soundcloud.
