On “Swing Star Pt. 1,” Norwegian producer Todd Terje travels deep into the realm of space disco, evoking the theme not only through the song’s astral title, but also via his use of the kinds of futuristic science-fiction sounds that were popular in late-’70s disco music, not to mention the fact that his floating arpeggiations get, well, downright spacey. The retro sounds come courtesy of the analog ARP2600 synthesizer, which lends its name to Terje’s forthcoming EP, It’s the Arps, on which “Swing Star Pt. 1” appears. The EP comes out through the Smalltown Supersound label on January 16, but for now, you can find the artwork and tracklisting after the jump.
