This week, London’s jozif will unleash the Standard Rising EP several months after the release of his Lady B EP, also for Culprit. His most recent record is the second installment of the LA-based imprint’s summer trilogy, and he has offered up a dub version of one of the EP’s cuts. “The Guitar Player (Dub Mix)” directs attention to the original’s chunky bassline and bits of funk flavor embedded within the squalling guitar riffs, with a spoken-word vocal sample occasionally peeking out from behind the more prominent elements.
