Berlin-based artists Ben Mono (a.k.a. Paul Beller) and Lars Moston have returned to the drawing board to create two new cuts of bass-minded deep house, which the Barcelona-based Tracy Music label will release on November 26 as the centerpieces of the Woodpecker EP. Also included on that record are four remixes of the garage-leaning “Unison,” one of which was helmed by the three Tracy label heads. “Unison (Tracy Music Remix)” chops the original’s cheesy vocal sample—”People of all nations, dancing together”—into monosyllabic blips and screwed-down grunts, until about halfway through the track, when the anthemic line is completely unleashed over stuttering drums.
