Colin Lindo has released music under the guise Nubian Mindz for more than a decade now, always maintaining his philosophy, “Keep your eyes on the future, know your past, and embrace the present.” Despite what you think of those ideas, the sentiments rings true in both his new EP for Disko404 (which we heard last week) and the one-off freebie featured here, “Working Title.” Lindo works out a deep, rooty-sounding groove over the course of over six minutes, while a minimal palette of downtempo drums dances around its aqueous soundscape. And Nubian Mindz’s use of practically timeless elements on this tune don’t just reinforce his creative mantra, they make for excellent listening, too.
