Regular XLR8R readers would be familiar with our downloads section and the wealth of tunes that can be found there. For those of you who aren't familiar, it goes like this: every day, barring weekends, XLR8R releases at least one track—sometimes two—as a free download. These tracks arrive in our inbox from seasoned veterans and newcomers alike, across genres as diverse as the artists that release them. Once we hit the halfway mark of each month, we tabulate the previous month's stats and announce the top 10 downloads from that period. Now, the time has come to announce the most popular downloads from the month of May.
Landing in the top spot this time is Shannoncut's remix of The Killers' bassist Mark Stoermer's "39 Steps," a cut from his debut solo album, Dark Arts, on his own St. August Records. TÂCHES & Anabel Englund followed close by with the Velvet Version of their track "Cha Cha," with British veteran and all-around renaissance man Andrew Weatherall rounding out the top three with a remix of Heart People's "Voices."
May's 10 most popular XLR8R downloads have been assembled into a list below and can be grabbed for free by following their respective links. In addition, all 10 tracks have been compiled into one convenient file, which can be downloaded via WeTransfer under the gallery.
