There’s been a post-rock eruption in the past two years, and some would argue that Mogwai isn’t the only band leading the instru-metal revolution. One of Hydra Head’s best-selling and hardest-working bands, Pelican, has given the kids a little of the epic to add to their metal.

Touring like crazy for the past few years, this Chicago-bred, L.A.-based quartet has invaded every city from Vancouver to Tokyo, with bands like Sunn O))) and Explosions in the Sky. What’s one more trek through the States for the boys?

City of Echoes is out now on Hydrahead
