Flick-following blog The Playlist got the scoop on this interesting piece of music news. Anthony Gonzales (known to most as the man behind electronic prog-pop outfit M83) has finally been commissioned to do something he’s probably been doing in his mind since his first self-titled album: score a feature film. French director Gilles Marchand asked the ambitious artist to compose new music for his upcoming film L’autre Monde, or Black Heaven in English. From the looks of the trailer, included below, the movie appears to be a thrilling piece of sexy European sci-fi, complete with loads of CGI, young flesh, and next-level camera work, accompanied by bits of Gonzales’ work interspersed throughout. Even a snippet of the badly repped “Car Chase Terror!,” from 2005’s Before the Dawn Heals Us, makes a quick and appropriate appearance. Black Heaven will hit this year’s Cannes, and hopefully our own art-house theaters not long after.
