The “Godfather of House,” Frankie Knuckles, hasn’t released an album since 2004, but next month, he’ll return to the spotlight with a “concept compilation album” called Beyond the Tone Arm. The double-CD release consists of recent remixes, collaborations, and productions helmed by the iconic DJ/producer, and so he says the record “should reflect exactly where [he ‘s] at musically, right now.” Apparently, he’s currently divided between moods, as Beyond the Tone Arm consists of two different sides: The “Classic Side” is a nod to house’s ’90s heyday, while the “Soultronic Side” features fresh producers and a taste for soulful sounds, including a mix of a song by Yoko Ono under her surname. The compilation will be released as a CD on November 12, with the digital package arriving on December 19, but you can check out the full tracklist and one of the tracks now, below.
