While Mike Paradinas (a.k.a. µ-Ziq) has remained increasingly busy running influential label Planet Mu and collaborating with his wife as Heterotic, his solo production alias has remained relatively quiet since 2007. Even though he released a collection of rare material in February, Paradinas has made his comeback official with today’s announcement of a new EP called XTEP (artwork above). Apparently, µ-Ziq has kept in step with the times, as the forthcoming record is said to feature a swath of contemporary sounds—including “cosmic space-disco,” footwork, and a so-called “joyous” take on his IDM-tinged production. A new full-length album is scheduled to arrive from µ-Ziq before the end of the summer, following the May 20 release of XTEP via Planet Mu. Previews of the EP’s five tracks can be heard here, and the tracklist can be found below.
