Techno DJ and producer T. Raumschmiere (a.k.a Marco Haas) has a new self-titled album that landed on the AlbumLabel imprint last week. This latest project marks a departure for the German artist, who rose to prominence in the early 90s as a hardcore punk drummer. Haas—who later went on to found the electronic music label Shitkatapult in 1998, now run in collaboration with Sascha Ring (a.k.a Apparat)—has had an extensive music career, with many of his works landing on labels such as Kompakt and Nova Mute.

T. Raumschmiere is an expansion of the artist’s musical horizons who delivers a beautifully crafted ambient album. As stated in the press release: “Haas is known for his take-no-prisoners approach to his live sets, which feature distorted beats, grueling basses, and steep descents. Now for the flipside, the negative image of the sound that made T. Raumschmiere famous, the sound that has allowed us to get closer to the understanding of this magic ambient music. The shadow of T. Raumschmiere does not come in with massive beats and basses, yet it is so imposing and so dark that it seems within our grasp.”

Wanting to illustrate his evolution as an artist, XLR8R is proud to premiere the video for the track “Zwischenstopp,” shot in Berlin’s Tegel airport. The video depicts some airport scenery or, more specifically (like the German title of the track translates), being in between stops. This soothing, yet pulsating sound, generates an absorbing atmosphere that transports the listener away.

T. Raumschmiere is available now in CD, LP, and digital download formats via the Shitkatapult website.
