Vessel and the Immix Ensemble have announced a new collaborative EP set to land via Erased Tapes. Named Transition, the four-tracker will see release on the London-based label on March 18.

Daniel Thorne (a.k.a Immix Ensemble) is a saxophone player hailing from Australia who last year joined forces with electronic producer Serge Gainsborough (a.k.a Vessel) to “create a series of recordings representing the theme of technology and how it relates to musical instruments,” as stated in a press release. The concept behind Transition is further explained as follows: “Musical instruments are somewhat of a technological anomaly […] once they are conceived and invented, they are rarely updated and modified […] In this sense, each instrument can provide a snapshot of what life was like upon the invention of the particular instrument, what was ‘cutting edge’ at the time of its inception.”
