The latest Workshop Records release is an eight-tracker by Brighton-based Ibrahim Alfa.

Ibrahim Alfa was mainly active in the late ’90s and early ’00s, pushing the boundaries with his choppy, weird brand of techno via the likes of Mosquito and Force Inc. Music Works. His new release via Workshop is his first full solo EP since 2003.

In a recent feature with the label’s co-owner Jens Kuhn (a.k.a. Lowtec), he explained the back-story to the release: originally destined to be distributed via Source Records, due to bankruptcy problems it was forgotten about until now, and was recently re-discovered in David Moufang’s (a.k.a. Move D) studio. It is comprised of eight short techno and electro cuts, covering a lot of different bases.
