Fresh off releasing a standout cut on Banoffee Pies’ Black Label Series, Christian Jay preps to drop his debut 12″ on Bristol label Idle Hands.

Like previous Idle Hands releases from I.A. Bericochea and Matt Karmil, Jay’s Contrail / 117 is a classy minimal house 12″ for the heads. Both tracks exhibit shuffling, expertly programmed drum patterns and chirpy synths. A lot of minimal can be passed off as being bland and soulless, but Jay has a way of injecting emotion into his grooves, in turn immersing the dancing into his colorful, groove-led world—these are tracks tailor-made for adventurous dancefloors.
