Next month, Rhythm Section will drop the debut EP from Mallard.

Mallard had been front and center at nearly every Rhythm Section event since early 2016 and met and connected with label head Bradley Zero through the dance. The South London-based and multi-instrumentalist is currently studying jazz double-bass at Trinity School of Music, and his deft hand at conjuring enticing grooves is on full display on his debut.

Titled Verte, the EP presents a strong sonic personality, one held together by mature instrumentation and inspired rhythms. From the deeply woven atmospheres of “Surface” to the tripped-out breaks of “Untitled,” Verte is standout debut from a producer to watch in the coming years.

Ahead of the July 21 release, which can be pre-ordered here, you can stream “Surface” via the player below.
