Over the past year, Fred P. (a.k.a. Black Jazz Consortium) has issued three 12″s of characteristically deep and soulful house music for his Codes and Metaphors EP series (the second volume of which we reviewed back in December). Now, the NYC-based producer/DJ has compiled a number of songs from that series, along with a handful of brand-new productions, for the forthcoming Codes and Metaphors LP. A quick glance at the tracklist reveals Fred P.’s forthcoming album to be heavy on vocal collaborations, though it’s also said to showcase Black Jazz Consortium’s “impressionistic and emotionally involved style of deep house, occasionally bordering on techno.” Below, you can peep the artwork and tracklist for that record, and be on the lookout for the Codes and Metaphors LP when it drops via the man’s own Soul People Music imprint on March 18. And while you’re down there, be sure to check out the brand-new, hour-long mix Fred P. delivered for Inverted Audio, which includes one of the tracks from his upcoming album.
