Fresh-faced Hemlock compatriot and exciting bass music producer James Blake was invited to Gilles Peterson’s Radio 1 show last night to introduce listeners to some new and unreleased chunes from his forthcoming CMYK EP for R&S. The radio-show host chatted up the UK beatsmith about his skillful piano playing, performing live with Mount Kimbie, and his own production techniques, before premiering Blake’s exclusive mix for the show. Strangely enough, the DJ set includes music from Joanna Newsom and Otis Redding alongside more expected bits of forward-thinking dance music. Stream the broadcast here, and note that James Blake’s performance doesn’t get started until about 30 minutes into the two-hour show. (via Fader)
