Though he’s better known for his prowess in the studio than for his skills as a DJ, London artist The Haxan Cloak (a.k.a. Bobby Krilic) has dropped a new mix in tandem with today’s release of his engrossing new LP for Tri Angle, Excavation. Krilic’s 37-minute set appeared over on Resident Advisor, boasting tunes (many of which he’s edited) from the likes of Boards of Canada, Sun O))), Plastikman, Prurient, AFX, Joy O, Autechre, and Nine Inch Nails, among others. In an interview with RA, the producer said, “With this mix, I really wanted to use it as an excuse to make some new music that I might not normally make, so tracks where it says “Haxan Cloak edit” is basically me using the originals as samples and making my own tracks out of them. I really liked the idea of making some kind of odd techno track out of Burning Star Core or Kevin Drumm.” The results of that work can be heard in full here, where The Haxan Cloak’s tracklist and interview are, as well.
