This week heralds the arrival of two hotly anticipated LPs: How to Dress Well‘s sophomore effort, Total Loss (which we reviewed today), and the debut full-length from LA’s The Gaslamp Killer, Breakthrough, released via Flying Lotus’ Brainfeeder label. Coincidentally or not, both producers have also composed mixes this week, debuting on FACT and Resident Advisor, respectively. FACT has yet to post the tracklist for How to Dress Well’s mix, but at first glance, it seems that the singer/producer has assembled some choice R&B jams, the occasional rock-leaning tune, and a few commercial hits—including Alicia Keys’ “No One” and the acoustic version of Beyonce singing “Halo” that was passed around Youtube, complete with the chatter of the crowd in the background. The Gaslamp Killer split his “Resident Killer mix” into three parts: The first showcases “a bunch of unreleased stuff from [his] worldwide crew of beat-making friends,” the second focuses on his turntablism influences, and the third features some cuts from Breakthrough.
