Over the summer, XLR8R debuted a new feature called Ask the Experts, which centered around a simple idea: letting our readers directly ask established artists for advice. So far, the monthly series has been a smashing success. The debut installment featured the German giants of Modeselektor, while the second round was piloted by UK bass manipulator Om Unit. Now that the calendar has flipped once again, it’s time to sign up another expert, and we’re happy to report that Daedelus has stepped up to the plate.

The LA-based artist has been releasing music for more than a decade, and he’ll be adding another album, The Light Brigade (which is being issued via Flying Lotus’ Brainfeeder imprint), to his impressive discography on September 30. In terms of experience, Daedelus is someone that has pretty much done it all. He’s toured around the world, worked with a variety of labels, and when it comes to hardware, he’s a noted gear fiend—his Monome-driven live performances are the stuff of legend. As such, it’s hard to imagine that there are many artists out there better equipped to share their know-how with the XLR8R audience.

If you have a question for Daedelus about production, touring, remixing, traveling, or pretty much any aspect of being an artist, email it ASAP to asktheexperts@xlr8r.com. We’ll send all of the entries along to him, and he’ll select a handful to answer. His responses will be posted in a new edition of Ask the Experts later this month, which will be followed by another chapter (with a new artist) every month thereafter. Start sending in those questions now.
