London producer Jim Coles (a.k.a. Om Unit) has followed up his bass-focused debut LP, Threads, with a brand-new mix of similiar juke- and jungle-referencing sounds. Recorded in Coles’ home, the artist describes his mix as “a representation of the kind of 160/170 BPM realm that I’ve been tirelessly banging the drum for the past two years or so” and “a representation of the family circle within that world.” Featuring the likes of Ital Tek, Boxcutter, Mark Pritchard, Goldie, Tessela, and assorted cuts from Coles himself, the hour-long mix is a heady, turbulent blend of drum & bass and footwork. Om Unit’s Resident Advisor podcast can be downloaded here, where a quick Q&A with the artist can also be found.
