Forty bands, 15 films, and an art exhibit are set to take over Brooklyn at the beginning of July, when the Afro-Punk Festival returns to the city.

Now in its fourth year, the festival is part music event, part art exhibition, and will include a skate park complete with BMX and pro skaters, who will give demos, free instructions, and equipment to attendees.

As far as the musical accompaniment for the event goes, Afrika Bambaataa will be joined by the likes of Chicago-based band The Eternals (pictured above), cyber-soul crooner Janelle Monae, Los Angeles-based duo J*Davey, and the Noisettes, among many others. Check the Afro-Punk site for full calendar details. Festivities kick of July 4 and will run through July 13.
