With a little over a month before his new full-lengthAbandoned City arrives, German composer and experimental pianist Hauschka has shared a video featuring a live performance of the forthcoming album’s opening track. Seated in a dark room and armed with a table full of electronics and an upright piano prepared with a number of miniature objects, Hauschka intimately displays his talent as a dynamic performer and live sound collagist, looping segments of the performance to create sound beds which the German artist tops off with piano themes and rhythmic elements. The video not only serves as a preview to Abandoned City (out March 18 on Temporary Residence), but also for the man’s upcoming European tour, the dates of which are included after the video below.
