After debuting on the label in September of last year with the Fifty Fathoms Deep EP, Marquis Hawkes is set to return to the Houndstooth fold with Raw Materials, a three-track EP focused on "primitive house rhythms." The Berlin-based producer—and former XLR8R podcast contributor—is said to have been heavily influenced by the sounds of house originators such as Ron Hardy, Gene Hunt, and Roy Davis Jr. on his new EP, resulting in a record keenly focused on the dancefloor with its rhythms front and center.
Such is the case with "'Ave That," the percussive, FX-streaked EP cut which serves as our first taste of Raw Materials. Ahead of the EP's official release on April 27, "'Ave That" can be streamed in full below, while the rest of Hawkes' forthcoming effort can be previewed here.
