Heady and theoretical dubstep-not-dubstep label Hyperdub has been on a roll lately with a string of fine releases in 2011 from the likes of Kode9 and The Spaceape (featured on XLR8R‘s cover), Burial, and Funkystepz. Now, they can add veteran East London grime producer D.O.K. to their quickly expanding, genre-defying roster. Once associated with Aftershock, Terror Danjah‘s now-defunct scene-defining grime label, D.O.K. is set to release his Hyperdub debut in the form of the West Coast EP. Picking up from where he left off, West Coast takes his grime sound and trips it out to fit the Hyperdub aesthetic. The West Coast EP doesn’t come out until June 27, but check below for a taste of “West Coast VIP,” the record’s artwork, and a full tracklisting.
