After penning a string of noteworthy solo releases for R&S/Apollo in the mid-to-late ’90s (not to mention helping form the influential Seefeel outfit), Mark Van Hoen let his Locust project lay dormant for the past 12 years. Only recently did the veteran electronic artist lift the veil on Locust when he announced the bewitching You’ll Be Safe Forever, a full-length album which is set to drop next week via the always-intriuging Editions Mego label. The LP is also now streaming exclusively on XLR8R. Van Hoen is not alone on his new effort, having enlisted fellow musician Louis Sherman to collaborate on You’ll Be Safe Forever‘s 13 adventurous tracks. The music explores a wide range of electronic composition—evoking the dusty vibes of DJ Shadow or Boards of Canada while focusing on the realm where found sounds, spacey synthscapes, haunting atmospheres, obtuse vocal samples, and classic beatwork meet. Below, You’ll Be Safe Forever can be streamed in full before it’s officially released via Editions Mego on April 16.
