Like many artists and DJs from across the pond, DJ and tastemaker Mary Anne Hobbs got stuck in the US last week due to that pesky volcano eruption in Iceland. But instead of sulking, Hobbs is using her unexpected extra time in America as an opportunity to showcase some of LA’s best beat talents. She will be producing and broadcasting her next two radio shows from Los Angeles, with today’s edition titled “Volcano Refugee Party.” Featuring 20-minute back-to-back sets from Flying Lotus, Daedelus, Ras G, Tokimonsta, Teebs, and TAKE, the show will prove that no natural disaster can keep the UK’s “first lady of bass” down. Next week’s show will be titled the “City Of Angels Special,” and beatmakers like Matthew David, The Gaslamp Killer, Samiyam, Daddy Kev, and Nosaj Thing are expected to come through. Check out all the pertinent details regarding time zones and streaming capabilities on Hobbs’ BBC site.
