Planet Mu sub-label Knives, run by Kuedo and Joe Shakespeare, will next release a mixtape from bod [包家巷], titled Limpid Fear [清澈恐惧], out via cassette and digital formats on August 17.

Knives already carries a prolific catalog including Jlin’s debut album in 2015, and releases from J.G. Biberkopf, d’Eon, Obsequies, and Kuedo himself.

bod [包家巷] is the alias of LA-based artist Nicholas Zhu, who presents a mixtape comprised of multiple arrangements. We’re told that the tracks exhibit his take on contemporary songwriting, and instrumentation of his Chinese heritage, as well as classical chorus and composition. The pieces meander between sentimental ambient pop, traditional string ragas, harsh noise, and digital textures.

The cassette comes packaged with a double-sided risograph print, with artwork by Tea Stražičić and calligraphy by Jade Novarino.
