UK duo Simian Mobile Disco has shared full details of its new album and live project, Whorl, resulting from recent experiments in Southern California. This past April, James Ford and Jas Shaw reportedly spent three days out in the desert with a hardware rig, consisting of two modular synths, two sequencers, and a mixer. The recordings from those live sessions make up the material on their forthcoming full-length Whorl, set for release through Anti–, a label that has previously put forward artists like Tom Waits and Kate Bush. The release follows last year's Live album for Delicacies, and 2012's Unpatterns LP for Wichita, which got high marks here at XLR8R.

Whorl officially lands on September 9, and album cut "Tangents," available to preview below along with a full tracklist, will see release as a single on July 1. Future live performances of the album are also in the works, with each show recreating the original process involved in making the album.
