The first wave of acts billed for the sixth Barcelona edition of MUTEK festival, MUTEK.ES, has been revealed.

Running March 4 through 7, the festival will once again be headquartered at Convent Sant Agusti and will include a daytime program of talks, workshops, and presentations alongside club nights and concerts. Murcof and Simon Geilfus will pair real-time generated imagery with immersive sound for a performance in Barts Theatre (newly updated with a quadrophonic sound system), while “audiocinetic” artist Herman Kolgen presents his latest project, Seismik. More dancefloor-focused acts include Talaboman (the pairing of John Talabot and Axel Boman), Zenker Brothers, and Magic Mountain High (the improv and hardware-oriented trio of Juju & Jordash and Move D), not to mention Raster-Noton affiliate Kangding Ray and rising German producer Max Graef. Also scheduled to appear is the Birdsmakingmachine collective, French/Japanese duo Nanotak, Franco Cinelli, and Eduardo de la Calle.

This year’s festival will intersect with the World Mobile Conference, which dovetails well with MUTEK’s focus on electronic music and digital art; according to a press release, the forthcoming event emphasizes “audiovisual wizardry and more installations than ever before.” Tickets for MUTEK.ES and full details of programming thus far can be found here, and more names will be rolled out in mid-January.
