Photographer Shaun Bloodworth (whose work has cropped up on XLR8R‘s pages countless times over the years) has shared a new short film scored by techno trio The Black Dog. Shot in his UK hometown, the video is part of Storying Sheffield, an ongoing collaborative project with the Arts and Humanities arm of the University of Sheffield. Bloodworth’s eight-minute effort—entitled “Barry Cant Arf Weld”—presents footage of large-scale, special steel forging at the local Firth Rixson manufacturing plant. Sound design from The Black Dog offers a literal take on industrial techno, with the Sheffield group (veterans of the Warp, Soma, and Ostgut Ton labels) layering low, fluctuating drones under the sounds of heavy machinery.

Bloodworth’s work will also be exhibited at this year’s Amsterdam Dance Event festival; more info on that can be found here.
