This video for “Hindou,” taken from El Guincho‘s forthcoming Piratas de Sudamérica EP (released July 13 via Young Turks), splices together random, summery images with footage of a young boy dressed as a pirate rowing around with an older friend in a small boat. The two only go ashore for the boy to play some sort of wooden instrument with his fake, plastic hook and a found stick before heading back onto the water. The video’s playful nature, mixed with the shaky, amateur camera work, compliments El Guincho‘s own lighthearted approach to creating his warbled tropical music, and gives the whole milieu a heavy nostalgic feel—like the music and the video were both uncovered from a dusty attic somewhere in the Caribbean.
