Dan Shake’s imprint will host the first release from XOA, a new project that fuses afrobeat influences with more modern electronica, set for release in May.

Dan Shake launched his self-titled imprint in 2015, and has so far used it only to distribute edits made by himself. The first outsourced project to hit the label is XOA, from which we can expect “warm, tropical sounds full of deep grooves, and sizzling with analogue synths, guitars and percussion.” On title track “Aiye Le,” Dele Sosimi provides the vocals, a man who was formerly the musical director of Fela Kuti. Shake himself steps up on the B-side, with a remix of “Aiye Le” that taps into his usual Detroit house aesthetic.
